gargantua and pantagruel
i read that book in art school
it was challenging for a young catholic boy
vulgar, to say the least...

are you also familiar with the writings and poetry fo catullus?

https://poets.org/poet/gaius-valerius-catullus

except that i don't think catullus had much illustrations with his words

Him rival to the gods I place (51)
Gaius Valerius Catullus

Him rival to the gods I place,
Him loftier yet, if loftier be,
Who, Lesbia, sits before thy face,
Who listens and who looks on thee;

Thee smiling soft. Yet this delight
Doth all my sense consign to death;
For when thou dawnest on my sight,
Ah, wretched! flits my labouring breath.

My tongue is palsied. Subtly hid
Fire creeps me through from limb to limb:
My loud ears tingle all unbid:
Twin clouds of night mine eyes bedim.

Ease is my plague: ease makes thee void,
Catullus, with these vacant hours,
And wanton: ease that hath destroyed
Great kings, and states with all their powers

at a young age I froze from completely innocent words - for example, in love ..
I've never heard of Gaius Valerius Catullus
thanks

[ at a young age I froze from completely innocent words - for example, in love ..]

how do you mean that you "froze"?
did you lose touch with the heart?
within yourself, or with the world?
or with the love of life in others?

do you ever read poetry by rumi? or zen poetry and haiku?
simple words carry great meaning

love..

for instance, "rose is a rose is a rose.." — gertrude stein

RUKOCO SHO!

so, i have not heard of this erotic japanese poetry style

i like this one...

You've thrown the canopy away.
And windy night
I've been to sleep in the night.
And then on my sleeve from the Heavenly River
The moon sank quietly

and also this one...

You've thrown the canopy away.
And windy night
I've been to sleep in the night.
And then on my sleeve from the Heavenly River
The moon sank quietly

this one's for you.. la belle dame sans merci

U & I – afloat in a boat on the Venice canal
Kimono undraped
You, sitting naked as truth
I push away from the shore with a pole
We swam into your oceans
Of far off distant pools... ~pi

and one more..

4 U – the time we were immersed
We went too far
We went astray
Covered in kisses
Your clothing unbuttoned
Oh how fragile we lay ~pi
